The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ana Weinmann can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

So sorry for your loss

Ana was my neighbor when I first moved to Atchison in 2003. I knew no one and was lost and afraid. But Ana and her son Alvin were so kind and welcoming. Alvin used to watch me, I can still here him saying, “Whatcha doin, Melissa, whatcha doin?” He was such a curious little boy. We would have long talks about her native Venezuela and her children. She loved being a mother so much.

I think we might have become better friends if I had stayed longer, but I moved away and got married. I moved back to Atchison a few years ago and saw Ana a few times in the store with her children.  She was so proud of them.

Her children and family brought her nothing but pure joy. We were all poor then, living in low income apartments, but when I think of Ana I remember that she never needed material wealth. She had everything she ever wanted in life crawling in a diaper on the deck of her second-story apartment. Children, I'm sure you'll have another angel watching over you as you grow older, cheering you on for all the great things you're going to accomplish.
