The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Daniel Erpelding can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Danny Danny Erpelding

My name is Goat ropper ;  a name  ( fondly I think ??  )  given to me by the men in the Erpelding family.  I was a young girl when I first met the Erpelding family, and knew imediately that I wanted to be part of their family.  I had never met  a closer, more  loving,  more accepting family as they were......and I had SO many brothers and sisters I could call mine.

Dan ( to me he was always Danny cuz I think he hated it so )  was the onery brother I never had.  He and his sister ( Marjie who is the most dear friend to me in the world ) would let me tag along where and whenever they went.  I would spend the summer with my great grandmother so I learned to love all the things that went with living in the small town of Lancaster.  I learned the art of folding newspapers, mowing HUGE lawns the quickest ways, snapping peas, shucking corn, making pickles, leaning to love rubarb pies, an unending supply of frest tomatoes, ( and  I learned to can those too ).

It was also here I learned to love the country, I learned about " Snipe Hunting " and "Submarine races",  playing ditch'em in the cemetry , sitting under the train tressel as the train roared overhead ( my heart still races when I remember that :-) ,  baseball games and fireworks at the ball diamond.  Some  of my most favorites  tho was learning to  hunt for  mushrooms and watching the herds of deer in the full moonlite.

I was fortunate to have the  oppertunity a few weeks ago to get to talk with Dan.  I got to tell him what a wonderful part of my life he had been, and how much I had enjoyed having an extra brother.  I also got to tell him how much I loved him.

Dan was a wonderful man, my heart breaks at his passing, however I know he has been blessed with a glorious new life, and when we meet again, he will be my onery brother again.

May God shine his grace upon you all, and give you Peace
