Obituary for Vernon K. "Keith" May

Vernon ‘Keith’ May, 89, Winchester, KS passed away Monday evening, March 4, 2019 at Country Care Nursing Home in Easton, KS.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the O’Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville, KS with Rev. Tom Nehring, officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday. The family request memorial contributions are made to the wishes of the donor’s choice. Keith was born on September 26, 1929 in Menoken, KS, the son of Clyde and Winifred (Strobel) May. Keith worked as a prison guard for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the US Penitentiary in Leavenworth, KS for over 20 years. After retiring from the prison, Keith worked at a fertilizer plant in Lawrence, KS, prior to the plant closing and he also did various farm work in the Winchester area. Keith was a former member of the Victory Baptist Church in Tonganoxie, KS and the American Angus Association.

Keith was married to Virginia L. Mikesell. She preceded Keith in death. Keith is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randal May in 1967; and two sisters, Marilyn Clark and Eleanor Shughart.

Keith is survived by a son, Michael May, Winchester; daughter, Dr. Leslie May (Dr. Joseph Pelati), Houston, TX; and a brother, Robert May, Stanley, KS.
