Zachary Richard Armontrout, 16, Rushville, MO, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sunday.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 7:00 pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 at St. Benedict’s Abbey Church on the Benedictine College Campus, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB and Fr. Jay Kythe, OSB, Concelebrants. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm, Friday, at the Abbey Church followed by family receiving friends until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to either St. Benedict’s School or Maur Hill Mount Academy High School. Words of comfort and remembrance may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Zach was born on June 13, 2002 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Gerald R. ‘Jerry’ and Kelly (Burkart) Armontrout. Zach was a junior at Maur Hill Mount Academy High School. Zach was liked by all who met him and his outgoing personality was evident as he welcomed new students attending Maur Hill Mount Academy. His friendships extended to classmates from all over the world. Zach played soccer his first two years while at Maur Hill Mount Academy, being sidelined from playing this year due to having surgery earlier in the year. Zach also loved to work out and his ambition was to become a personal trainer. Zach and his brother Darren enjoyed having marathon ‘gaming’ sessions (video). Zach also loved being ‘Uncle Zachy’ to his nieces and nephews; Lexi, Addie, Connor, Jackson, Anna and Carter.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Kelly Armontrout, Rushville; brother, Darren Armontrout (Beth Siard); sisters, Marissa (Billy) Spilman, Caralyne (Chad) Servaes, Katy Armontrout (Cameron Wood); maternal grandparents, Gary and Eileen Burkart, Atchison, and his nieces and nephews.

Zach was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Betty Armontrout, of Rushville and his aunt, Megan Elizabeth Burkart.
