Stephen James McGinnis, 65 of Weston, MO died on Thursday, Dec. 6th, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO with his children by his side.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 11th, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO. The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 10th, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to help with funeral expenses and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Steve was born on Dec. 19, 1952 in Atchison, KS the son of Everett “Mick” and Margie (Smith) McGinnis. He graduated from Maur-Hill in 1971 and served in the U.S. Army until 1973. Steve worked with his father as an auto body repair man, and manager of the family business, Main Street Auto Parts, Atchison KS. He worked there for over 30 years. Steve enjoyed gardening, cooking, bowling, playing golf and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was married to Pamela Witte in 1971 and they later divorced. Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie (James) Filbert, Nortonville, KS, three sons, Brent (Kecia) McGinnis, Jeremy (Brandi) McGinnis, and Neil (Cheyenne) McGinnis all of Weston, MO, his mother, Margie McGinnis, Atchison, KS, siblings, Cathy Lowry, Shawnee, KS, Greg McGinnis, Pine, CO, Debbie Hundley, Atchison, KS, Mary Jo VanDyke, Atchison, KS, Lori Simmens, Jamestown, MO, Susie Arensberg, Grandview, MO, Peggy Olson, Atchison, KS, and Amy Berry, Olathe, KS, and nine grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.
