Gary R.  Harden
Gary Russell Harden, 78, of Lancaster KS died Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home in Lancaster, KS surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, Nov. 24th, 2018 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster, KS with Rev. Cynthia Schnaath officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Huron Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John’s Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral home who is handling the arrangements. Gary was born on Feb. 11, 1940 on a farm in Huron, KS the son of Charles Garold and Violet Florene (Stirton) Harden. He graduated from ACCHS in 1958. Gary worked as location manager for Farmers Union COOP for 40 years. After retiring he worked for the Township and City of Lancaster. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lancaster Lion’s Club, and the Jaycees. Gary also served on the Lancaster City Council and was a volunteer for District #5 Fire Dept, Lancaster and enjoyed riding motorcycles, yard work, gardening, playing cards and table games, attending tractor pulls and vacationing in Branson, MO and Colorado.

He was married to Shirley Jean Ball on July 18, 1959. She preceded him in death on Jan. 10th, 2006. Survivors include a son, Robert (Terri) Harden, Lancaster, KS, a daughter, Roxanne (Phil) Cody, Topeka, KS, three brothers, Earl Dean (Pam) Harden, Everest, KS, Allen (Cindy) Harden, Lancaster, KS, Charlie (Mary) Harden, Mayetta, KS, and two sisters, Beulah (Boots) Bowen, Parkville, MO, and Donna (Gary) Hegwood, Lancaster, KS, six grandchildren, Brandy, Tabitha, Samantha, Trevor , Chance and Garrett , six great grandchildren and companion Bev Reese. His parents, wife Shirley, son Michael, brother’s Bill and Pat Harden and sisters, June Scholz, and Joyce Smith preceded him in death.
