Obituary for Donald Eugene Bramble, Sr.

Donald Eugene Bramble, Sr., 80, of Atchison, KS, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Medicalodge of Atchison.

Cremation is planned and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Don was born on January 10, 1938 at Rushville, MO, the son of George and Ruth (Murdock) Bramble. Don graduated from Atchison High School in 1957. Don was an over the road truck driver for MGP Ingredients for over 31 years. He was fondly known by those who knew him by his CB handles, (‘Duck’, ‘Red Dog’, ‘Bam Bam’), or always having cookies or candy to pass out, (‘Cookie Man’, ‘Candy Man’) or an affectionate nickname given by his grandchildren such as ‘HO HO’. Don enjoyed snowmobiling, truck pulls, boating, NASCAR races, or anything that had to do with an engine. Don was a member of the local Teamsters Union and had been a Union Steward while working for MGP.

Don was married to Betty Dugger and they later divorced. Don later met the love of his life, Nancy Shelton, and they have been together over 27 years.

Don is survived by Nancy, of the home; two sons, Donald E. (Linda) Bramble, Jr., Rushville, and Mark (Sharon) Hurst, Effingham; Nancy’s children, Judy (Jeff) Sailors, Lori Cox, and Ronnie (Laralee) Shelton; grandchildren, Christopher (Natalie) Bramble, Dustin and Tyler Hurst, Maggie and John Earl; Nancy’s nine grandchildren and their families, Joe (Liz) Robinson, Mandy (John) Olszowka, Katie Merritt, Emily (Eric) Revel, Morgan (Justin) Schilling, Derek (Hailey) Shelton, Aaron, Trae and Tanner Shelton; five great grandchildren, Austin, Allison, Aiden, Aric & Aubrey Bramble and Nancy’s several great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene (Bill) White, St. Joseph.
