Obituary for Shirley Kay Hermreck (Myer)

Shirley Kay (Myer) Hermreck, 51, of Lancaster, KS died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, June 28th, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Cynthia Schnaath, Interim-Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in the Lancaster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Atchison Hospital Home Health and Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Shirley Kay Myer was born on April 6, 1967 the daughter of Kenneth G. and Marguerite K. (Jamvold) Myer. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1986. Shirley had worked as a waitress at Etta’s at Pineview, and then as a certified nurse’s assistant at the Dooley Center & Cray Manor before she owned and operated ‘Shirley’s Daycare’ out of her home in Lancaster. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster and the Lancaster Birthday Club and Card Club. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was married to Joe Hermreck on August 1, 1986. Joe survives of the home in Lancaster. Additional survivors include two sons, Matthew Hermreck, and Ryan (Kelsey) Hermreck, of Lancaster, KS, two step-children, Bradley Hermreck and Staci Hermreck, both of Chanute, KS, three brothers, Ronnie (Toni) Myer, Larry (Lynna) Myer and Dwight (Karen) Myer, all of Lancaster, KS and four grandchildren, Alexis, Leah, Amie, and Emily and several nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.
