Obituary for John Charles Wistuba

John Charles Wistuba, 64, of Valley Falls, KS died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home in Valley Falls.

Open to the public Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, Nortonville, KS with Fr. Lazar Carasala as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Easton, KS. The visitation will be open to the public from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 22 at St. Joseph’s Church, Nortonville. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph’s Church and may be sent in care of the O’Trimble Chapel, Nortonville who is handling the services. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. The family and Altar Society will provide a lunch at the St. Jospeh's School Basement following the grave side service.

John was born on June 22, 1953 in Nortonville, KS the son of Raymond J. and Kathleen R. (Striegel) Wistuba. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School, Nortonville, KS, graduated in 1971 from the Jefferson County North High School and had attended Emporia State University. John was a United States Army veteran serving as a radio operator for the First Division, 2nd Battalion, 16th Artillery Division from 1971 to 1977. Mr. Wistuba worked as pipefitter and retired from the Goodyear Company, Topeka after 20 years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local # 307. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, fishing and spending time outside with his dogs and four grandsons.


Survivors include a son, John (Leane) Wistuba, Lawrence, KS, a daughter, Katie Shade, Kansas City, MO, a brother, Robert S.(Tammy) Wistuba, Valley Falls, KS, six sisters, Karen J. (Ed) Splichal, Belleville, KS, Susan E. (John) Aspinwall, Nortonville, KS, Patricia A. (Clifford) Burk, Tecumseh, KS, Jane(Perry) Hodge, Wichita, KS, Lori L. (Rob) Hedges, Ottawa, KS, and Maggie (Chris) Ferguson, Topeka, KS, and four grandsons. His parents preceded him in death.
