Karen Dorene McConnaughey, 75, of Atchison, KS died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at the Atchison Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Sat. Nov. 25th, at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Hansen, Pastor of the Carol Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison KS. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Carol Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Karen was born on March 3, 1942 in Atchison KS the daughter of Frank G. and Mildred I. (Shupe) McConnaughey. She graduated from Atchison High School and received her Associate’s Degree in Business from Highland Community College. Karen worked as a bookkeeper for the former Townsend & Wall Dept. Store, St. Joseph, MO, then for American Electric, UMB Bank, all of St. Joseph, MO and for approximately 5 years for the Patsy Porter, CPA, of Atchison. She was a member of the Carol Baptist Church, Atchison where she taught Sunday school for 50 years, and served on the Mission Council. Karen was a member of the POE. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, reading, playing puzzles, and playing the piano. She especially enjoyed going to her nephews ball games.

She is survived by three sisters; Nancy Donaldson, Atchison, KS , Frances (Robert) Peterson, Atchison, and Helen (Earl) Price, Lathrop, MO and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, two brothers, George F. and Byron E. McConnaughey, and one sister, Catherine McConnaughey, preceded her in death
