Laura M. “Peg” Bartlett, 86, of Atchison, KS, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Medicalodge of Atchison, KS.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2017 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Nancy J Kollhoff. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be 9:00 AM Tuesday September 26, 2017 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Memorials are suggested to Atchison Hospital Auxiliary or to Salvation Army flood victims in Texas and Florida and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Peg was born on February 25, 1931, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of William “Bill” and Catherine (Upchurch) Roe. Her family had many moves until settling in Shawnee Mission. Peg graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1949; she then attended Baker University in Baldwin, KS for a year then Kansas University for a year. Peg worked for her father at Bill Roe Café which is where she met the love of her life, Bob Bartlett. Together they had six children. Peg worked as a secretary for North West Mutual of KCMO before becoming a stenographer for them. She enjoyed playing bridge, liked going to the casino, and enjoyed spending time and boating at Bean Lake during the summer. Peg was the recreation director for Atchison when she first moved to town and also worked in the kitchen at USD 409 school district.

Peg married Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Bartlett on August 31, 1951; he preceded her in death on June 11, 2010.
Survivors include three sons; Jim and Jane Bartlett, Atchison, KS, Tom and Kim Bartlett, Atchison, KS, Steve and Karen Bartlett, Camden Point, MO, two daughters; Margo and Dave Suhler, Severance, CO, Sandy and Mark Dennis, Oakley, KS, a brother Bill and Donna Roe, Atchison, KS, eighteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren a sister in law, Leni Roe, Lawrence, KS.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Bartlett, a brother George Roe and a sister; Frances Roe.
