Life Story for Patricia Lockwood Snowden (Kinney)

Patricia Lockwood Snowden, Kansas University lost one of it's biggest arm chair basketball fans on May 17, 2017.

Through the years Pat loved cheering on her team and didn't hesitate to write to the current coach if she saw something that didn't meet with her approval. Another one of her interests was the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store, where she served as president for many years. She was a member of the Auxiliary for over 56 years. At 93 Pat was still driving to the thrift store on Monday's to help out in the mornings. Pat was born in Atchison on August 22, 1923 and early on moved with her parents to Kansas City. She went to Kansas University, was a Pi Beta Phi and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her interest in art continued through the years and she was on the Kansas Art Commission for four years. She was a member of the Governors Council of the Arts for two years. Pat attended Sister Helen's and Dennis McCarthy's art classes at Benedictine College in her senior.

March 5, 1945 was the day that Pennell Snowden and Patricia Lockwood were married at the Episcopal Church in Atchison. They celebrated their marriage for 61 years, Pen passed away in 2006. Pat continued to live in the home they built together, in 1951. This was the family gathering place for her four children and their spouses, her nine grand children and her 16 great grand children. There will be a Celebration of Life for relatives and close friends at 2:30 on June 4 at the home.

Memorials are suggested to Atchison Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, who has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
