Lisa R. Wilson, 44, of Effingham, KS was one of three people who died Friday, May 12, 2017 from an automobile accident on Interstate 29 near Platte City, Mo. Also killed were her husband James W. “Jim” Wilson and her mother, Carol E. Wehking.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 at the Atchison County Community High School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm at the Brush Creek Cemetery, 310th Rd and Cheyenne Rd, Kennekuk, Atchison County, KS. A formal visitation will not be held.

Lisa was born on May 3, 1973 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Eldon and Carol (Lockwood) Wehking. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1991 and attended Topeka Vo-Technical School where she studied Medical Transcription. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for Hiawatha Hospital. She was a member of the Atchison County Livestock Board and enjoyed gardening, cooking, interior design and her dog “Georgie.” Lisa was a wonderful wife, mother, and daughter. She and her mother, Carol, were best friends.

Lisa was married to James W. “Jim” Wilson on October 31, 1997. Survivors include a son, Austin (Mariah) Gibson, Horton, KS, a step-son, Matthew (Jake) Wisdom, Hiawatha, KS, her father, Eldon Wehking, Lancaster, KS, a brother, Todd (Jayne) Wehking, Lancaster, KS. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher R. Wehking,

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Muscotah Cancer Support Group or the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.
