Obituary for Gene Alfred Green

Gene Alfred Green, 76, of Atchison, KS died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home surround by his family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Sound System Fund, or American Heart Association, or Diabetes or Arthritis Foundation and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Gene was born on June 17, 1940 in Noel, MO the son of Charles A. and Clara L. (Walker) Green. He attended Washington Grade School and Atchison High School. Gene had worked for the former Rockwell International, Blish-Mize Company, the Lawrence Berkley Lab, and American Rubber Mfg, both in California, Lincoln Grain, and then Midwest Grain Products for 15 years retiring in 1997. After retiring he worked part-time for Santa Fe Place, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and as a custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Heart of America Metropolitan Club and the River Rods Club. Gene enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was married to Sandra M. Genail on Dec. 1, 1967. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons; Thomas Green, Atchison, KS and Gene M. (Ginger) Green, Brazoria , TX, two brothers; Bill Green, Effingham, KS and James Green, Atchison, KS, two grandchildren; Michael and Megan Green, and six step grandchildren; Jaymi and Colby Kearney, Erika, Reagen, and Stephen Kinzer and two great grandchildren; Carlee Kinzer and Sadie Kearney, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, father in law, Bill Genail, four brothers, Ben, Charles, Adolph, and Andy Green, preceded him in death.
