Nora Jean Wohlgemuth, 80, of Atchison, KS passed away on Sat. March 25th, 2017 at the Atchison Senior Village.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Friday , March 31st, 2017 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Matt Broxterman officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Diabetes Assoc or the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Nora Jean Winzer was born on August 29, 1936 in Atchison KS the daughter of Everett E. and Ruth E. (Wood) Winzer, Sr. She attended a one room schoolhouse, at Independence J3-50, for grades 1st through 8th. She then attended Atchison High School and graduated in 1954. Nora became a member of the First Christian Church, Atchison in 1953. She married Melvin E. Wohlgemuth on Sept. 18, 1955 at the First Christian Church. She worked as a switchboard operator and receptionist at Benedictine College and St. Benedict’s Abbey for 20 years.
She is survived by her two daughters Jeanne (Larry) Pickman, Horton, KS., and Joanie (Rick) Abel, Nortonville, KS ; her brother, Robert (Ollie) WInzer, Atchison, KS, and her sister, Reona (Ted) Johnson, Weston, MO; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Melvin E. Wohlgemuth, son, Stanley E. Wohlgemuth , daughter Beth L. Hawk, a grandson Christopher Wohlgemuth, and two brothers, Everett and Aaron Winzer preceded her in death.
