Carol Alberta Barnes, 70, of Atchison, KS, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, KS with Rev. Keith Hoover, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, south of Rushville, MO. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. www.beckerdyer.com.

Carol was born on May 14, 1946 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Glen Theodore and Mary Hellen (Mathews) Garoutte. Carol attended schools in DeKalb, MO and graduated from DeKalb High School. Carol married Cecil Barnes and they later divorced. Carol primarily was a homemaker and later worked at the Atchison Wal Mart as a greeter. Carol enjoyed crocheting and watching television.

Survivors include a sister, Janice ‘ Sue’ Trautloff, Excelsior Springs, MO; six nephews and two nieces, several great nephews and great nieces.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beverley Foster; and a brother, James Garoutte.
