Delbert D. Graham, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, February 1, 2017 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Born June 11, 1930 in Geuda Springs, Kansas, he was the son of Walter and Amanda (Hauser) Graham. He was raised and received his early education in Geuda Springs. When Delbert was a Junior in high school the family moved to a farm east of Winfield, and Delbert finished his education graduating from Winfield High School in 1948. While in school he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams, as well as serving as President of the school’s FFA Chapter. He also worked for a custom harvest company in the summers.

Delbert was united in marriage to Mary L. Wood on September 10, 1950 at Tisdale United Methodist Church east of Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where they started Graham Service Station. He later went to work for the City of Winfield in the water and gas departments. He remained with the City for over 30 years before retiring. Delbert continued farming on the family farm his entire life, even while working other fulltime jobs. Mrs. Graham preceded him in death on June 21, 2005.

He was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities including: President of Methodist Men, member of the Board of Trustees, Usher, Greeter, as well as helping with maintenance at the church. He enjoyed attending sporting events, and attending a coffee club with friends at Wendy’s. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

His family includes:His sons: Ronald Graham and wife, Robyn of Atchison; Keith Graham and wife, Margaret of Haskell, OK; His daughters: Debra Bridges and husband, Bill of Winfield; Marsha Donals and husband, Greg of Winfield; His sisters: Alene Miller and husband, Bob Hamm of Winfield; Irene Koby and husband Isaac of Ennis, TX; His grandchildren: Brad Bridges, Jason Bridges, Joshua Graham, Natalie Arthaud, Ashley Bradford, Katie Graham, David Graham, Amanda Mugler, Levi Donals, Graham Donals; and His great-grandchildren: Jackson, James, Graham, Max, Geneva, Bryer, Kyren, Braden, Anabell, Bryce, Alexis, Caleb, Connor, Ryan, Kaden, Jenna, and Addison.

In addition to his parents and wife, Delbert was preceded in death by a brother Herman Graham and a sister, Carolene Newlin.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening, February 6, 2017 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Delbert’s name for First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
