Ruthanna Marlatt, 91 of Atchison, KS, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Atchison Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Russ Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Vernon Cemetery Road Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Words of comfort to the family may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Ruthanna was born on December 29, 1925, in Warrensburg, MO, the daughter of Morton and Cecilia (Flynn) Hazell. She was a housewife, but also the bookkeeper for her and her husband’s business, Marlatt Construction. Ruthanna in her younger years enjoyed bowling and water skiing. She also enjoyed traveling to Africa and going to the casinos. Ruthanna loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruthanna married Lester Marlatt on March 1, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2009. Survivors include two sons, Tom and Susie Marlatt, Atchison, KS, Steve and Patty Marlatt, Atchison, KS, a daughter, Shirley and Charles Cline, Atchison, KS, a daughter-n-law, Karen ( Marlatt) Hardesty, Peoria, IL, a sister Doris Felix, Sterling, CO, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Morton Marlatt and a granddaughter, Madison Marlatt.
