Blanche Marcelle (Pinguet) Higley, 92, Cummings, went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Atchison Senior Village, Atchison, KS.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Cummings Christian Church, Cummings, KS, with Rev. Dave Ludwig and Pastor Jim Cormode officiating. Burial will follow at Pardee Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cummings Christian Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Blanche was born September 12, 1924 in Paris, France, the daughter of Marcel and Marguerite (Chemin) Pinguet. After she finished her schooling, she was a secretary near the Champs de Elysee. During World War II, she met her future husband, Ernest Higley, near there in Paris after the liberation. She later came to the U.S. and they were married on December18, 1946 and celebrated 69 years of married life. After diligently studying the English language, Blanche became a US citizen. She was a housewife and farmed with Ernest. As an active member of Cummings Christian Church, she taught Sunday School Class and VBS many years and was the head of the Missions Committee.

Ernest and Blanche were blessed with five children, Marcelline Vaughan, Effingham, KS, Linda Hittle, Dewey, OK, Kathy Miller, Yukon, OK, Jean Higley, and Glenn Higley, Independence, MO, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Higley, her parents and one brother, Robert Pinguet.
