Roy Neal Lassen, 73, of Cummings, KS died unexpectedly on Sat. July 9th, 2016 at the Atchison Hospital.

Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 14th, 2016 at Cummings Cemetery, Cummings, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Bus/Van Fund or the Trinity Lutheran Church Women’s Ministries for funeral dinners. Roy was born on August 22, 1942 in Atchison KS the son of Jess P. and Mary A. (Rhodes) Lassen. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1961. Roy worked several different places including Midwest Grain, Atchison County Sale Barn, and as maintenance supervisor for Kansas State Penitentiary for over 26 years, retiring in 2006. Mr. Lassen also was an auctioneer and did exotic bird auctions, and had auctioneered at Arnold’s Auction. Roy also did dirt work for the Performance Sports, Kansas City. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as a former Kennedy Caller and attended Adult Bible Class. He was a member of the NEKS Game Breeders Association and Exotic Birds. Roy was a kind man, he has passed down really unique things and lasting memories to people in his life, his lessons of kindness were through his actions.

He was married to Shirley Bramble on Dec. 31, 1966. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, David (Barbara) Lassen, Cummings, KS, three granddaughters, Kathryn (Cody) Schilb, Kimberly Lassen and Krystal Lassen, and one great granddaughter, two brothers, Don (Cindy) Lassen, Cummings, KS and Frank (Loretta) Lassen, Winthrop, MO, several nieces and nephews, and a sister in law, Rosemary Lassen, Weston, MO. His parents, infant daughter, Theresa Lassen, three brothers, Harold, Elmer and Henry Lassen preceded him in death.
