Viola Mae Knowles, 89, of Atchison KS died Sat. Oct. 31, 2015 at the Atchison Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 5th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cerebral Palsy and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Viola Mae was born on June 29th, 1926 in Perry, KS, the daughter of Reba Bobblet. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1944. Viola worked at several different places including as a cook for the Dooley Center. Mrs. Knowles retired from the Dooley Center in 1995. Viola enjoyed gardening, crocheting, working puzzles, and cooking for her family.

She was married to Phillip Knowles on Oct. 31, 1946 at St. Benedicts, Atchison, KS. Mr. Knowles preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2007. Survivors include four sons, Tom (Sue)Knowles, Laveta, CO, Gary Knowles, Roger (Kristine) Knowles, and Robert (Karen) Knowles, all of Atchison; eight daughters, Diane(Greg) Billington, Jeanne (Burt) Burton, Carol Knowles, Jackie (LeRoy) Roles, all of Atchison, Deb (Ronald) Welch, Cummings, KS., Gail Sanders, and Stacy Servaes, both of Rushville, MO., and Mary (James) Waring-Brown, Potter, KS, a sister, Patricia Baldwin, Salina, KS, fifty two grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Phillip, a son, Kenny Knowles, two brothers, Melvin Bouton, and Lindy Viles, and a sister, Shirley Hale, two grandchildren and one great granddaughter preceded her in death.
