Dorothy Claire Irons, 94, of Atchison, KS died Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Atchison Senior Village.

No services, viewing or visitation will be held. Private family burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in the Westlawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society or the Trinity Episcopal Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Dorothy C. Barnes was born on May 28, 1918 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Charles G. and Ethel (Courtney) Barnes. She graduated from high school in Omaha, NE. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Atchison, a member of the St. Martha’s Guild and choir at the church. She was a life member of PEO, was active as Chairperson for the Kansas 2nd District GOP and enjoyed swimming and entertaining friends and family.

Dorothy was married to William Irons in 1939 in Omaha, NE. They were late divorced. Survivors include a son; Dr. Forest (Sally) Irons, Casper, WY, one grandchild, She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter; Susan K. Irons. (June 5, 2011), a sister, Helen Clemmons.
